Oyo NSCDC Promises Improve Security In 2022

As days roll by in the history and activities of Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps in Nigeria with the responsibility to save and protect lives and properties of the citizens of the Country as it's stated in 2003 Act and Amended Act of 2007 respectively. The State Commandant of Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) Oyo State Command, CC Adaralewa Michael has charged the officers and men of Corps to not rest on their hoarse until the State is fully safe for all and Sundry.

The State Commandant, CC Adaralewa Michael made this declarations while addressing the HOD's, HOU's, Area Commanders and Divisional officers of the Corps on the modalities to enhance a safe and peaceful environment for the citizens of the State as Christmas and new year celebrationsis fast approaching.

During the briefing Commandant gave the account of the Command activities so far from January till date according to departments and units in the State. While presenting the report card of Intelligence and Investigation Department of the Corps to the Heads of various department and units present at the briefing held at CG Abubakar Audi mni PhD conference Hall at old Nitel Building Agodi Ibadan today. It was revealed that over 70 (seventy) cases range from OBT/FORGERY, STEALING, ASSAULT, ARMED ROBBERY, VANDALISM OF ELECTRIC CABLES, ALLEGED ILLEGAL MINING, ALLEGED VANDALISM AND THREAT TO LIFE just to mention few.

Also the Anti Human Trafficking and Child Protection Unit of the Corps who have treated four hundred and fourteen cases (414) in the cause of the year which cut across differenttype of cases that includes: CHILD TRAFFICKING 26, DISOBEDIENCE CHILD 9, CHILD PLACEMENT41,THREAT TO LIFE 40, CHILD NEGLECT 51, DEFILEMENT/RAPE 47, INDECENT ASSAULT 17, DOMESTIC VIOLENCE/PHYSICAL ASSAULT/BATTERY 88, CHILD ABUSE 23, MISSING MOTHERS AND CHILDREN 4, DEAD CHILD 1, ILLEGAL ABORTION 1 AND FORCEFUL MARRIAGE 1. Meanwhile, the Corps have secured judgementin 6 out of the many cases already in Court.

While given Disaster management unit scorecard, Commandant Adaralewa Michael commended the head of the unit for his quick response to disaster management in the State and part of the Unit achievement for the year are, COVID 19 SECOND WAVE SENSITISATION, COVID 19 VACCINATION, SYNERGY WITH DISASTER MANAGEMENT STAKEHOLDERS IN THE STATE, RESCUE OPERATION, SENSITISATION/PUBLIC AWARENESS ON FLOOD DISASTER, WEEKLY SURVEILLANCE, PREVENTION AND MITIGATION OPERATIONS, ERECTION OF PIN DOWN POINTS ACROSS THE STATE, FESTIVE PERIOD PIN DOWN EXERCISE, COMMISSIONING OF COMMAND SICK BAY, FLOOD DISASTER MITIGATION AND RESPONSE, SEARCH AND RESCUE OPERATION,OMICRON VARIANT SENSITISATION AND VACCINATION EXERCISE, INTER-AGENCY COLLABORATION AND SYNERGY, FIRE SAFETY AWARENESS CAMPAIGN AND PROMPT REPORT WRITING.

The Peace and Conflict resolution Unit of the Corps have tried to make peace a significant issue in the State with the record of 340 cases(Three hundred and forty) handled in which 290(Two hundred and ninety) were resolved, one of the cases was transferred while 49 of the cases still pending. The cases handled are: LAND DISPUTE 71, and 54 were resolved while 17 still pending, MARITIALS 30 resolved 2 pending, FAILED BUSINESS TRANSACTIONS 144 resolved 22 pending, FAMILY MATTERS all the 20 cases brought to the Unit were resolved COMMERCIALS 3 resolved 1 pending, TENANCY CASES  61 resolved 6 pending, others which we have 8 resolved and 1 pending.

While highlighten the achievement of Anti Corruption and Transparency Unit of Corps, Commandant Adaralewa Michael made it known that the Unit have able to settled 35 cases(Thirty five) in which all the cases are on Breach of Contract/ Agreement and we're able to recovered total sum of One million Two Hundred and Fifty Eight Thousand Naira in the process to the owner.

The Anti Fraud Unit of the Command have used the Office perfectly to assist the Citizens of the State who have brought different cases range from BREACH OF AGREEMENT/CONTRACT, BREACH OF TRUST, INTERNET FRAUD/CYBER CRIME, INVESTMENT FRAUD, OBTAIN BY FALSE PRETENSE AND PROPERTY FRAUD which in total One Hundred and Twenty cases(120) and amount to #56,353,700(Fifty six million three Hundred and fifty three thousand seven Hundred naira and the Unit were able to recoverd #36, 378,000(Thirty six million three Hundred and seventy Eight Thousand) to the owner.

On Private Guard Company Department, Oyo State Command made Twelve million Nine Hundred Thousand Naira(#12, 900,000) through renewal of license and branch fees in 2021. The Department have about 140 guards Company in the State with 27 of them  have their Headquarters in Ibadan. Also have 3 new entrance and 62 with their branches in Ibadan.

Judiciary being the hope of a common man and determinants of all prosecution in the Court of Law. Out of the cases in Court  1 (One) judgement has been secured so far in the cause of the year at the Federal High Court Ibadan Judicial Division in the case file number FHC/IB/105/2020/FRN VS AMOLE GODWIN AND 1 OTHER in a count charges in which the first defendant was sentenced to one year imprisonment each to make it 4years imprisonment and to run consecutively.

Despite various challenges facing our organisation in Oyo State we have performed creditably in 2021 and we know that we are going to have enormous task in 2022 because it is part of electioneering year.
