Prof Taibat Danmole, the first daughter of the late Soun of Ogbomoso, Oba Oladunni Oyewumi, is dead.

Danmole, 71, died on Saturday, less than one month after the death of her father.

Oba Oyewumi died on December 12 at the age of 95.

Sources within the palace told our correspondent on Sunday that Danmole had been ill before she died on Saturday, barely 28 days after his monarch father died.

“Baba’s first daughter died yesterday (Saturday). She has been sick for and it happened yesterday. We just pray that God will spare the lives of those of us remaining,” one of the sources said.

As of the time of filing this report, arrangements were ongoing to bury the deceased in Ilorin, Kwara State capital on Sunday afternoon.

The deceased was married to the Dean, College of Humanities and Social Sciences, Al-Hikmah University, Ilorin, Prof Hakeem Danmole.

She was Commissioner for Education in Oyo State from 1997 to1998.

She was a member of a Visitation Panel to The Polytechnic, Ibadan in 2011.

She was also a resource person, coordinator and independent assessor to the National Teacher Institute.

The late Danmole was said to have been a lecturer at the University of Ilorin before she transferred her service to the Lagos State University where she retired.
