The All Progressives Congress (APC) has said it has lost a dedicated leader, with the death of its Chairman in Oyo State, Isaac Omodewu. He was 61.

The death of the APC leader occurred yesterday in United States of America after a protracted illness.

APC National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, in a statement in Abuja yesterday, eulogized the efforts of Omodewu at ensuring unity and growth of the party in Oyo State and in the entire Southwest, THE NATION reported.

The statement said: “All Progressives Congress is shocked and deeply saddened over the death of Omodewu, the party’s chairman in Oyo State.

“Until his passing, Omodewu was an accomplished politician, a cerebral lawyer and a shrewd administrator, who served meritoriously, first, as commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters, and later, as commissioner for Lands and Housing in the administration of Governor Abiola Ajimobi.’’

APC in Oyo State has described the passing on of Omodewu, as a devastating blow and a loss not only to the party, but also the entire Nigeria.

A statement by the Publicity Secretary of the party in the state, Olawale Sadare, said despite Omodewu’s illness, he kept in touch with friends, associates and most Oyo APC stakeholders until he breathed his last on Sunday.

Senator Sharafadeen Alli (APC-Oyo South) has expressed deep sorrow over the death of Omodewu.

A statement by Alli’s media aide, Akeem Abass, described Omodewu’s death as a monumental loss to the party and the entire state.
