Auxiliary Pleads Not Guilty To Murder, Multiple Charges
Alhaji Mukaila Lamidi, also known as ‘Auxiliary’, the former Chairman of the National Union of Road Transport Workers in Oyo State, pleaded not guilty to the 17-count charge presented to him in one of his ongoing trials.
Also, a former chairman of the state disciplinary committee of the Park Management System (PMS), 'Auxiliary', is currently on trial facing 17 charges.
These charges include armed robbery, murder, attempted murder, and possession of firearms. Among the firearms in question are an AK-47 assault rifle and two SMG rifles, along with their magazines.
The offense, according to the charge sheet, is contrary to and punishable under Section 1(2)(a) and (b) of the Robbery and Firearms (Special Provisions) Act, CAP RII, Vol. 14, Laws of the Federation of Nigeria, 2004.
The matter with suit number I/74c/2024: State Versus Mukaila Lamidi (Auxiliary) is before Justice Bayo Taiwo of Fiat Court 2, Oyo State High Court, Ring Road, Ibadan.
The case borders on offenses allegedly committed on May 29, 2023, at about 2 pm at the Ikolaba, Ibadan home of Governor Seyi Makinde.
According to the Nation, the case, which was initially assigned to Justice O. A. Adetujoye of Fiat Court 5, was later reassigned to Justice Taiwo. This change occurred after Mr. Olalekan Ojo, SAN, the counsel for Auxiliary, expressed his disagreement on November 4 about allowing Justice Adetujoye to preside over two cases involving his client.
As a result, the case file was returned to the chief judge for reassignment.
The Executive Assistant to Governor Makinde on Security, CP Sunday Odukoya (rtd), was also in court to observe the proceedings.
