CAF Officially Postpones Libya vs. Nigeria Match

16 October

Reported by Ayooluwa Afolabi

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has officially postponed the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying match between Libya and Nigeria, originally set to take place today in Benina.

The decision follows the Super Eagles players and officials being stranded for several hours at Al Abaq Airport upon their arrival in Libya on Sunday. The team returned to Nigeria on Monday evening.

In a statement released Tuesday afternoon, CAF announced, “The TotalEnergies CAF Africa Cup of Nations Morocco 2025 Qualifier fixture between Libya and Nigeria will not take place as scheduled tonight. The matter will be referred to the appropriate CAF authorities.”

Further updates on the situation are expected as CAF addresses the issue.
