Circular Road: Makinde Establishes Committee For Compensation Payment To Landowners
Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde has established a monitoring committee to oversee the payment of compensation to landowners affected by the acquisition of lands on the first segment of the Ibadan circular road.
Makinde made this announcement on Tuesday.
According to the Daily Post, some houses and lands have been either demolished or marked for demolition in the ongoing construction of the Ibadan circular road.
Some residents whose properties were affected by the construction had a few weeks ago staged protests against the demolition.
However, the Governor contained in a letter signed by the Secretary to the State Government, Professor Olanike Adeyemo, announced that a committee has been set up to ensure everyone is compensated.
The letter indicated that the monitoring team would be headed by the Executive Assistant on Security to the Governor, Sunday Odukoya.
Other members of the committee, according to the letter, included the Commissioner for Culture and Tourism, Dr Wasiu Olatubosun, SSA Broadcast Media to the Governor, Bosede Sadiq, Mr A.O. Kolapo, and Mr S.O.A. Olatunde.
The statement said the monitoring team’s terms of reference include the verification of the list of would-be beneficiaries submitted by the Ministry of Lands, Housing, and Urban Development.
The committee is to ensure the compensation payments are made to the right people.
