Nigerian rapper and activist Folarin Falana, popularly known as Falz, has addressed allegations made by social media influencer Martins Otse, also known as Verydarkman. In a recent interview on *The Afro Beat Podcast* posted on YouTube, Falz called the claims against him baseless and defamatory.

Falz, who said he was not well-acquainted with Verydarkman’s activism, mentioned that he had previously seen some of the influencer’s content, particularly on issues like the sale of unregulated skin bleaching products. “When I saw some of those clips, I thought he was doing something good. It seemed like a good cause,” Falz noted.

According to The PUNCH,The controversy began when Verydarkman accused Falz and his father, human rights lawyer Femi Falana, of colluding with others to manipulate the justice system. Additionally, he claimed that Falz was involved in a homosexual relationship with crossdresser Bobrisky, questioning the rapper’s credibility as an activist.

Reacting to the accusations, Falz expressed disbelief. “How would anyone feel? These are horrible things to say, and there’s absolutely no proof,” he said, emphasizing that the claims were entirely false.

Falz also highlighted the importance of evidence when making such serious accusations, stating, “He who alleges must prove. I’ve gone to court for defamation of character because that’s exactly what this is.”

He further clarified recent misinformation about the court case, dismissing reports that a N500 million financial settlement had been ordered. According to Falz, while the defamation case is ongoing, the court did issue an interim ruling for Verydarkman to take down the defamatory video.

“The case of defamation is still in court. However, the court has ordered that the video be taken down and that he desist from making any further defamatory remarks pending the outcome of the case,” Falz explained.

The rapper concluded by stating that the defamatory content remains on Verydarkman’s social media pages, despite the court's ruling.
