JCI Ibadan Elite Hosts 2024 Convention, Investiture of 8th President

The Junior Chamber International (JCI) Ibadan Elite hosted its 2024 Convention and the Investiture of its 8th President on Sunday, November 17, 2024.


Themed “Leadership Redefined: Building Today for a Sustainable Tomorrow,” the event featured distinguished guests, including the Deputy Chief of Staff of Lagos State, Mr. Sam Egube, as Chairman, and the Head of Corporate Services, Union Bank, Mrs. Dupe Ogunbiyi, as the theme speaker.


The grand occasion, held at Carlton Gate Exclusive on Secretariat Road, Ibadan, achieved a historic milestone with the attendance of seven past National Presidents of JCI Nigeria—a first for the local organization.


During her tenure, Cynthia Akhagbeme-Simeon demonstrated exceptional leadership, drawing from her extensive JCI experience, which includes serving as Vice President in 2023, Director of Protocol and Public Relations in 2022, and contributing to numerous key committees at both local and national levels. She spearheaded impactful projects, including international initiatives aimed at fostering community development.


In her valedictory address, President Cynthia expressed gratitude for the trust placed in her leadership and called on members to continue working together to elevate JCI Ibadan Elite to greater heights. She also unveiled the 2025 President-Elect, Ilerioluwa Johnson Babatunde.


The President-Elect, Ilerioluwa Johnson Babatunde, served as the 2024 Executive Vice President under President Cynthia's leadership. He will lead the organization in 2025 alongside his board, focusing on fostering unity, purpose, and sustainable achievements.


Prominent attendees included the Executive Secretary of the Lateef Jakande Leadership Academy, Mrs. Ayisat Agbaje-Okunade; the Special Adviser to the Oyo State Governor on Housing, Hon. Akinsete Olakunle; CEO of Extension Publications, Chief Sunday Obiyinka mni; and other dignitaries.


JCI Ibadan Elite, an affiliate of JCI Nigeria and the global JCI network, remains committed to empowering young individuals with the skills and knowledge necessary to drive positive change in their communities.
