Reported by Ayooluwa Afolabi

Motorists traveling on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway faced severe delays on Wednesday morning due to multiple accidents on the Kara Bridge, resulting in significant traffic congestion and a loss of life.

The incidents, which occurred heading out of Lagos, involved a series of collisions between container-laden trucks and other vehicles, with a total of eight vehicles affected.

The first accident happened at midnight, claiming the life of a bus driver and injuring four others.

The Lagos Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Kehinde Hamzat, confirmed the incident, stating, “The bus driver died instantly, and the park association took his body.”

The second accident occurred shortly after the first, involving several additional vehicles. While there were no fatalities reported in the second crash, the chaos it created severely disrupted traffic flow.

FRSC officials and police personnel were on-site, working tirelessly to clear the wreckage and restore normal traffic conditions. However, at the time of this report, traffic remained at a standstill, stretching back to the 7-Up area in Lagos.

Frustrated motorists expressed their dissatisfaction with the prolonged delays caused by the accidents. Many complained about the lack of alternative routes and called for more proactive measures to prevent such incidents in the future.
