Nigerian workers, under the Nigeria Labour Congress and the Trade Union Congress, have rejected the Federal government’s fresh N58,000 minimum wage offer.
According to Channels Television, sources in the Nigeria Labour Congress disclosed this on Wednesday.
The report said the organized labour also saw reasons for dropping their demand to N497,000 minimum wage from N615,000.
On Tuesday, the Federal Government offered organized labour a minimum wage of N58,000. Last week, it offered a minimum wage of N48,000, which prompted Nigerian workers to stage a walkout.
In an interview on Tuesday with Politics Today, NLC president Joe Ajaero described the government offer as unsubstantial.
“It is still not substantial compared to what we need to make a family moving,” he said.
Recall that organized labour proposed a N615,000 minimum wage up from N30,000, citing the prevailing economic realities Nigerians were facing.
