Oyo Fire Service Rescues 12-Year-Old Boy From Drowning
The Oyo State Fire Service rescued a 12-year-old boy (name withheld) from a river in the Ibadan North-East Local Government Area of the state.
It was gathered that the boy fell into the Renascent River, located at Adekanbi Street, Ajibola Area, Aremo, Ibadan, on Tuesday.
The fire agency was informed immediately the incident occurred.
Men of the agency thereafter rescued the boy.
DAILY POST reports that the General manager of the agency, Mr. Yemi Akinyinka, confirmed the development, saying it was reported to the agency’s Control Room Centre at exactly 12:39 pm.
He added that the boy has been handed over to his parents and subsequently moved to a hospital for medical attention.
“The incident was reported to the agency’s CRC at exactly 12:39 hrs on Tuesday, 17 December 2024, through GSM, that somebody had fallen into a river at Adekanbi Street, Ajibola Area, Aremo, Ibadan.
“The fire personnel were promptly deployed to the scene, and on arrival we got to work with search and rescue equipment and were able to rescue the twelve (12) year-old boy from the deep river.
“He was handed over to his parents and conveyed to the nearest hospital for proper medical treatment.
“According to our investigation, the victim sank when he was trying to pass through to the other side of the river.”
