Oyo To Begin Minimum Wage Discussion

16 October

Reported by Ibadan Media

The Oyo State Government and Organised Labour will begin negotiations on the consequential adjustment related to a new minimum wage on Thursday. Governor Seyi Makinde recently stated that his administration plans to implement a N70,000 minimum wage once the salary adjustment issue is resolved.

Additionally, Makinde announced that the N25,000 wage award for workers and the N15,000 for pensioners will be extended for another three months.

Thursday’s meeting will establish the framework for negotiations, with the government presenting its proposed adjustments for each grade level. Labour representatives, however, will seek to align with the Federal Government’s template for consequential adjustments.
