Popular Crossdresser, Bobrisky Responds to Defamation Claims Involving Femi Falana, Falz

17 October

Reported by Oluwaseun Adeniyi

The popular Nigeria crossdresser, Idris Okuneye, popularly known as Bobrisky, has called on human rights activist Femi Falana and his son, Folarin, popularly known as Falz, to hold media critic Martin Otse, also known as VeryDarkMan, accountable for the defamatory content circulating on social media.

According to the Punch, Bobrisky clarified that he never paid Falana or Falz for assistance in securing a presidential pardon during his recent imprisonment. This response comes after Falana and Falz demanded a public apology and a retraction of Bobrisky’s statements, which were shared in audio recordings online.

According to reports, one audio shared by VeryDarkMan features Bobrisky claiming he had contacted Falz for help in convincing his father to facilitate a pardon, allegedly for a fee of N10 million. He also claimed to have asked Falz for N3 million to ensure special treatment at the Kirikiri Correctional Centre.

In another audio, Bobrisky alleged he paid N5 million to a Senior Advocate of Nigeria to secure a Federal Government pardon related to charges from the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission.

In a letter dated October 14, 2024, Falana’s legal team accused Bobrisky of making false statements damaging to their reputations, demanding a full retraction and public apology across all platforms where the statements appeared.

Responding to these claims, Bobrisky reiterated that he did not provide any money to Falana or Falz for a pardon, insisting that the individual who disseminated the defamatory content should be held responsible.

\"I, Idris Okuneye, a.k.a. Bobrisky, did not give Falz or his father any money for a pardon. I maintain that the person who published the audio should take full responsibility,\" he stated on Instagram.

He further emphasized, \"For the record, I did not publish any defamatory statements about Falana or Falz. My lawyer will address any additional inquiries regarding this issue.\" Bobrisky concluded by asserting his right to privacy and urging respect for his communications.
