Teachers, Students Refuse To Attend Oyo Community School Over Conflict with Locals
Teachers and students of Areago Community High School in Ogbomoso, Oyo state, have deserted the school premises.
The school located in Ogbomoso North Local Government Area saw teachers and students not turn up on Monday due to a recent clash between some students and residents within the community.
DAILY POST reports that a clash occurred between the students and some residents within the community on Thursday.
It gathered that the school was virtually empty on Monday.
A student in the school who asked not to be named said that only a few of them showed up in the school.
“We did not see our teachers today; we don’t know why, but I am sure it is not unrelated to the invasion of the school last week. We will also leave soon,” the student said.
It was gathered that the teachers, rather than resuming in the school, reported at the Teaching Service Commission (TESCOM) zonal office, Oja-Tuntun, Ogbomoso, in order to register their protest.
The teachers were seen sitting in groups.
They signed the time book at the zonal office while the principal had been summoned to the TESCOM head office in Ibadan.
