Travellers Lament As Flood In Olodo Leaves Them Stranded

22 February

Hundreds of commuters, travellers and residents of Ibadan plying the Olodo alternative bridge were on Thursday stranded as a result of a flood that overflowed the Olodo alternative bridge in Ibadan.

Ibadan media gathered that the alternative bridge links Ibadan in Oyo State with Iwo in Osun State.

The Olodo bridge is reportedly still under construction by the Oyo State government as of the time of the incident.

Following the reconstruction exercise, the state government provided an alternative route for those who ply the Ibadan-Iwo Road.

Hundreds of residents and travellers were, however, stranded for many hours as a result of the flood, following a midnight rain in parts of Ibadan on Thursday.

There was heavy traffic as a result of the flood, leading to hours of wait before road users could access the bridge.

A resident of Olodo who spoke with DAILY POST said he spent forty minutes before he could pass the bridge.

“The alternative bridge was flooded. We cannot pass the way we have been doing. We spent forty minutes before we could pass the bridge today, ” he lamented.
