Two Arraigned For Stealing N50 Million Worth Of Iron Rods
The police on Monday charged two individuals, Sunday Shaibu, 32, and Nura Mohammed, 24, with stealing a trailer load of iron rods valued at N50 million.
The duo, whose addresses were not provided, were charged with conspiracy and stealing before the Iyaganku Magistrate’s Court, Ibadan.
They, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges preferred against them.
The prosecutor, Insp. Folake Ewe told the court that the defendants allegedly committed the offences on October 30 in the Odo-Ona Apata Area of Ibadan.
Insp. Ewe said the defendants conspired to steal the iron rod, property of the Chinese and Bridge Cooperation Company, Peoples Gazette reported.
She said the offences contravened sections 516 and 390(9) of the Criminal Laws of Oyo State, 2000.
The magistrate, T. G. Daodu, granted the defendants N10 million bail each with two sureties.
She adjourned the case until January 14, 2025, for the hearing.
